You’re laughing to yourself in the kitchen of Gold Rush Lodge…it just seems ridiculous to be this happy. You’re taking into consideration where you are of course – 7000 feet above sea level, the lush mountains of Big Bear, California. You look around at your surroundings, the open great room of this incredible holiday lodge. The people you love are talking while nestled deep into the couch, the fire place is roaring, there’s a touch of snow on the ground outside and the sky is as blue as you have ever seen it before. Ridiculous maybe…but you could get use to this.

The plan is to stay here a week and the calendar is already near full. Skiing, snowboarding, snow shoeing, and tubing. Then there are the daily hikes into the wilderness and the bike rides around the lake. There have to be a half a dozen restaurants that you passed on the way in that looked interesting and the shopping is a must.

Today the house is warm, and everyone is relaxing as they acclimate to the elevation. The game room here at Gold Rush is out of this world and those who want to watch the game over a movie can find their way upstairs where they can also enjoy a game of pool while they're at it. Once everyone is rested you can start thinking about dinner and whether or not you want the Springtime Snowman you’ve started in the front yard to have a button nose or a carrot one...let me give you a head’s up on this – the Blue Jay’s will steal the button and the Squirrel’s will make off with the carrot the minute you turn your back…the perils of mountain living! Until then, being ridiculously happy should be all that occupies your mind.

Gold Rush Lodge is a wonderful place to build the best of a lifelong memory and a snowman…what more could anyone want?
